Yousif Al Mutawa co-founded TURN8 Venture Capital. He leads the Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) advisory practice, enabling corporates innovate by engaging with various tech startups.

Prior to joining TURN8, he served as DP World’s group Chief Information Officer (CIO) for 8 years where he managed their global IT organization, established innovation practices, including a corporate accelerator and led an internal entrepreneurial transformation for its corporate culture.

His past roles also included CIO for Dubai World Group, Vice President for DU Telecom, Head of Dubai eGovernment IT, an e-Business and an Internet professional for various companies in the US and a co-founder for a startup in the Silicon Valley. He holds a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from California State University, Sacramento, USA.

Mikhail has 30 years of experience in the mining and metallurgical industries.

He has progressed through all career levels, reaching the positions of Investment Director and Technical Director at some of the world’s largest steelmaking corporations.

Mikhail’s expertise covers all stages of the production cycle, from gold and copper exploration to steelmaking and hot briquetted iron (HBI) production. He has in-depth knowledge of automation processes in mining and metallurgy.

He has held the position of Technical Director at leading companies such as EVRAZ, NLMK, Norilsk Nickel, and AGMK (Almalyk Metallurgical Holding, Uzbekistan).

From 2020 to 2024, under his leadership, gold and copper beneficiation technologies were developed at one of the world’s largest deposits – AGMK.

His past roles also includes Sourcing Executive in GENERAL ELECTRIC. Managed purchasing of sourced finished goods from Asia/Europe. Developed and executed the strategy focused on growth and cost-out. Managed $500mln in annual buy, 500+ products worldwide.
